Short Biography

Abdelhamid Tayebi received his B. Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Ecole Nationale Polytechnique, Algiers, in 1992, his M. Sc. in Robotics from Université Pierre & Marie Curie, Paris, France in 1993, and his Ph. D. in Robotics and Automatic Control from Université de Picardie Jules Verne, France in 1997. He joined the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lakehead University in 1999 where he is presently a Professor and Research Chair. He is also a Professor (by Courtesy) with the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University since 2004.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), and a Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC). He is the recipient of the 2008 Distinguished Researcher Award (the highest research recognition given to exceptional researchers at Lakehead University). He received the Research Merit/Teaching Merit awards every other year since 2002.

He served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, Control Engineering Practice and IEEE CSS Conference Editorial Board. He is presently an Associate Editor for Automatica since 2011. He is the founder and director of the Robotics and Automatic Control Laboratory at Lakehead University.

His current research interests are in the broad area of Control Systems, Autonomous Navigation, Cooperative Control, Iterative Learning Control, Unmanned aerial vehicles.
